Blue Ridge Humane & WTZQ host Strut Your Mutt
Blue Ridge Humane Society has partnered with WTZQ Radio and Historic Downtown Hendersonville for this year’s Strut Your Mutt 5K Run & Walk presented by Hunter Subaru on Saturday, July 27, 2019. The dog-friendly run & walk will kick off the Tails In Town festival on Maple Street. Runners and walkers of all ages and abilities are welcome to participate in the timed event with prizes for top 3 in male and female provided by FootRx. Dogs and children under 12 are free! The race course will start in front of the Historic Hendersonville Depot and wind along the scenic Oklawaha Greenway and Hyman Heights residential district before looping back to festival central on Maple Street.
Participants may pre-register online or sign up day of starting at 7am, with an 8am race start. Onsite registration is $30 and proceeds benefit Blue Ridge Humane Society, Foothills Humane Society, Charlies Angels, Boxer Butts and Other Mutts, and Brother Wolf Animal Rescue. Stop by and visit with our adoptable animals and pet-friendly vendors! All rescue organizations will have adoptable animals at Tails in Town looking for a new home in addition to pet-friendly businesses and community groups. Tails in Town will also feature presentations and a pet costume contest to crown Mr. and Miss. Tails in Town 2019.
Strut Your Mutt is presented for the second year by Hunter Subaru, and supported by First Citizens Bank, Norm’s Minit Mart, Wild Birds Unlimited, Beverly Hanks, and Blue Ridge Orthodontics. On course water stations for humans and animals will be staffed by Friends of the Oklawaha Greenway and a first aid station is provided by Pardee Hospital.
