Keep Your Pet Safe During Halloween
It’s that ghoulish time of year again… Halloween!
Just because we like to scare ourselves on these chilly October nights doesn’t mean we should scare our pets, as well! Let’s ensure that our furry friends are having as good a time as we are on Halloween by following some pet safety tips:
No Sweet Treats: Halloween treats are toxic to pets. Chocolate and sugar-free candies containing the artificial sweetener xylitol can cause serious problems in pets.
Careful with Costumes: For some pets, wearing a costume may cause undue stress. Have your pet try on the costume before the big night. If he or she seems distressed, let your pet wear his or her “birthday suit” instead.
Keep Pets Calm & Identifiable: Doorbells, knocking, and trick or treaters can be scary for pets. Keep your pet in a calm quiet place away from all the activity. Make sure your pet is wearing proper identification. A collar with ID tags and/or a microchip can be a lifesaver for a lost pet.
