WAGS TO RICHES SECOND ANNUAL FUNDRAISER AND PHOTO CONTEST

On Saturday, September29, 2012, the Blue Ridge Humane Society will host their second annual “Wags to Riches†fundraising event beginning at 6:30 P.M. at the Hendersonville Country Club. The stylish evening will include dining and dancing and themed silent auction packages to bid upon including a weeklong trip to Maui for two. The winner of the “Give Us Your Best Shotâ€Â photo contest will also be announced. Wags to Riches is the primary fund raiser for the Blue Ridge Humane Society in 2012. The cost is $100 per person ($75 of which is tax deductible). You can make a reservation by mailing payment to the Blue Ridge Humane Society, 1214 Greenville Highway, Hendersonville, NC, 28792, or in person at the Blue Ridge Humane Society Thrift Store located at 1214 Greenville Highway, or at WAG Pet Boutique on Main Street in Hendersonville. Reservations must be made by September 21st. “The funds we raise at Wags to Riches will help us provide food, housing and medical care to countless dogs and cats at our animal shelterâ€Â says Lutrelle OʼCain, Director of Administration. “It costs an average of $200 per rescued animal just to provide the services necessary to get the animal ready for adoption from our shelter.†Silent Auction Extravaganza Co-Chairs of the event, Kitty Olson and Valorie White, hope the Silent Auction at the September 29th event will bring in much-needed funds for the shelter. “With the help of our committee, we have put together outstanding silent auction packages with themes on adventure, travel, hand crafted items, spa treatments, dining and even a weekʼs holiday in Maui for two including air fare,†said Olson. This evening will be a wonderful opportunity for area residents to purchase interesting and unusual items,of which a portion may be tax deductible, and support our animals. “Give Us Your Best Shot†Photo Contest Animal lovers and photography buffs are reminded that the “Give Us Your Best Shot†pet photo contest runs from August 10th to September 19th, 2012. Both amateur and professional photographers are invited to submit up to three entries of pets, either alone or interacting with people. There is a $10 fee per entry. “Once again we are excited to have the expertise of Michele Stephenson, former Director of Photography for TIME MAGAZINE to pick the winning photos. “ I am looking forward again to judging this yearʼs Wags to Riches event for the Blue Ridge Humane Society and I canʼt wait to see the great pet photos from the community ,†said Stephenson.
