With a Heart Full of Gratitude

Greetings,

This Thanksgiving, as I reflect on the challenges of navigating recovery after Hurricane Helene, I’m overwhelmed with gratitude for the unwavering love of my pets and you, our incredible supporters.

My two dogs, Laverne and Seneca (both proud BRHS alumnae), have been my constant source of comfort. During uncertain times, all it takes is a wag of their tails or the look in their eyes to remind me what truly matters. To Seneca and Laverne, life is simple: treats, walks, playtime—and me. I’m their whole world, and I couldn’t be more thankful for that.

No love is more steadfast, loyal, or faithful than that of our pets. Haven’t we all needed that kind of unwavering support this season? In times of uncertainty, animals remind us of the simple joys and unconditional love we sometimes take for granted.

This season of togetherness means extra cuddles and attention for the pets who have homes as we repair, rebuild, and find gratitude amidst the challenges. But the storm’s aftermath for homeless pets is a stark reminder of how much work there is still to do.

Thanks to your invaluable support, the Blue Ridge Humane Society has been able to provide a lifeline to many needy animals. Your contributions have helped us work to reunite families, offer safety to displaced pets, provide free vaccinations, and share thousands of pounds of food and much-needed supplies with those facing tough times.

Your support allows us to give pets in need something extraordinary: the chance to know the love and safety they deserve. I’m profoundly grateful for your compassion and support. Because of you, we can continue to provide hope and healing to pets and their families, no matter the obstacles.

As you gather with your loved ones this holiday, give your pets an extra treat for me, and I hope you’ll join me in giving thanks to the animals who make our lives brighter. Together, we can make this season one of hope, healing, and new beginnings for the pets and people who need us most. With your continued support, we’re building a brighter future for every pet who needs us.

Happy Thanksgiving, and thank you for being part of this incredible journey.
